Today's UserFriendly is hilarious... at least to web developers :)

I haven't looked into the working draft of HTML 5 yet, so I don't know what to think about it.

I really like the way Mozilla Firefox handles "ALT" text for images. Unlike IE, it does not show alt text as a "tooltip" when the image is actually there. Instead, it uses it for its intended purpose - to be an alternative when the image cannot be displayed ( Read more... )

Almost a week after I emailed support@watchfire.com, they hadn't responded yet, so I called the Watchfire support phone number. Why is 'Bobby' (bobby.watchfire.com) the standard for accessibility checking? I know it's not the only tool out there. But if your pages don't pass Bobby, they're unacceptable to someone who cares about accessibility. I just found this technique from Joe Clark's book on accessibility. It's so amazingly simple, I wonder why I (and so many other web folks) haven't thought of this before.

If you're still positioning your left navigation bar using a table, it probably looks something like this:

Markdown is pretty neat.

I'm not sure I'd ever use it, since I already use HTML on a daily basis.

But that doesn't detract from its coolness. It's much more appropriate for things like journal entries than HTML is.
